Without question I find that consumers have big time fear around faults in wine- anxiety about being able to identify them and then what to do if they think they have. In all my years of experience, this uncertainty seems to be the source of the most wine angst. Few wine enthusiasts that I know feel 100% sure that they should flag down a waiter in a restaurant and say that they think there’s something wrong with the wine they have ordered and even a smaller minority in rejecting a bottle at the pull of a cork (or the twist of a screwcap).
