Episode 39: Portugal’s Douro Valley Dry Reds

Join Evan Goldstein as he delves into an increasingly popular and noted wine region, the Douro Valley in Portugal. He talks about the unique varietals typically used for making port, which are being used to produce the great dry reds, for which, Portugal is finally being recognized. Evan tastes two wines that are at either end of the spectrum of what Portugal is producing, including a great value wine and a wine of great pedigree and aging potential. First, Evan tastes the 2005 Domini Douro Red from producer Jose Maria de Fonseca in the Everyday Price Range, and then he tastes the 2005 VT Douro Red in the Splurge Price Range.
